  • Electromagnetic Compatibility Regulations 2016

  • Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2012

FCC Statement

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions:

  1. This device may not cause harmful interference, and

  2. This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

Note

Changes or modifications not expressly approved by TopBytes Ltd could void the user's authority to operate this equipment.

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation.

RF Exposure Information

General Statement

This device complies with EU and US/UK requirements for limiting exposure of the general public to electromagnetic fields, as assessed in accordance with EN 62311:2020.

SatTracker is a low-power device that transmits at a maximum of 100 mW EIRP in the 2.4 GHz band. It is designed for tabletop / desktop use and is not intended to be worn on the body or held against the head.

Usage Distance

This device has been evaluated for RF exposure compliance at a minimum separation distance of 20 cm between the device and the user's body. At this distance and power level, the electromagnetic field exposure is well below the limits set by Council Recommendation 1999/519/EC (based on ICNIRP guidelines).

Recommendations

  • Use the device on a desk, table, or shelf — not directly against the body

  • Do not modify the antenna or connect external antennas

  • If co-locating with other radio equipment, maintain reasonable separation

Safety Warnings

Power Supply

  • Use only a USB-C power supply that complies with applicable safety standards (e.g. IEC 62368-1, CE / UKCA / FCC marked). Using a non-compliant power supply may create safety hazards.

  • The device requires a 5 V DC power supply providing at least 1 A, connected via a USB-C cable that supports data (not charge-only).

  • Do not exceed the rated input voltage of 5 V DC.

  • Disconnect the USB-C cable before cleaning the device.

  • Do not use damaged cables or power supplies.

Operating Environment

  • Indoor use only. This device is not designed for outdoor or weatherproof use.

  • Operating temperature: 0 °C to +40 °C.

  • Storage temperature: −20 °C to +60 °C.

  • Humidity: 20% to 80% relative humidity, non-condensing.

  • Do not expose the device to moisture, rain, or liquids.

  • Do not use the device in dusty, dirty, or excessively hot or cold environments.

  • Do not block ventilation openings or place the device in enclosed spaces without airflow.

  • Maximum operating altitude: 2000 m above sea level.

General Safety

  • This device is not a toy. Keep out of reach of small children.

  • Do not disassemble, modify, or attempt to repair the device. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.

  • Do not expose the device to strong magnetic fields, excessive vibration, or mechanical shock.

  • If the device emits unusual smells, sounds, or smoke, disconnect the power immediately and contact the manufacturer.

  • This device is intended for general consumers and hobbyists. It is not intended for use in safety-critical, medical, or life-support applications.

LCD Display and Touch Panel

  • The capacitive touch panel responds to bare-finger touches; gloves and styluses without conductive tips will not register.

  • Do not press the LCD with sharp objects, fingernails, or excessive force — this can permanently damage the panel.

  • Clean the screen with a soft, dry, microfibre cloth. If liquid is required, use a small amount of distilled water on the cloth and never spray directly onto the screen.

  • The LCD contains no mercury and uses LED backlighting.

  • Avoid leaving high-contrast static images on the screen for extended periods to minimise the risk of image retention. The overnight Night Mode schedule can help.

Intended Use

SatTracker is a WiFi-enabled, touchscreen display device that predicts and shows the positions and passes of amateur-radio satellites, with their published frequencies, using orbital data fetched over the internet from third-party sources.

Intended users: Radio amateurs, satellite enthusiasts, and hobbyists.

Intended environment: Indoor domestic, office or radio-shack environments.

Important

SatTracker is an informational display only. Its predictions depend on orbital data and frequency information from third parties, which may be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. SatTracker does not transmit or receive on the amateur bands; operating a radio transmitter requires an appropriate licence, and the operator remains responsible for transmitting only on frequencies and modes they are licensed for. Do not rely on SatTracker for any safety-of-life, navigational or operational space-situational-awareness purpose.

The device is not intended for:
  • Outdoor installation

  • Use in explosive or hazardous atmospheres

  • Medical, navigational or safety-critical applications

  • Use as an authoritative source of satellite positions or frequencies

WEEE — Waste Disposal Information

Per WEEE Directive 2012/19/EU, Article 14

Disposal Instructions

This product is marked with the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol, indicating that it must not be disposed of with unsorted household waste when it reaches the end of its life.

Correct disposal: Take the product to a designated collection facility for the recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). Contact your local authority or retailer for information on your nearest collection point.

Why Separate Collection Matters

Separate collection and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment helps to:
  • Conserve natural resources

  • Ensure hazardous substances are handled safely

  • Protect the environment and human health

Batteries

This product does not contain an internal battery. If powered from a USB-C power bank, dispose of the power bank separately in accordance with Directive 2006/66/EC (Battery Directive) or its successor Regulation (EU) 2023/1542.
